If you’re tired of the snack box, and who isn’t, there’s good news out from Virgin Australia. The long-awaited new Business Class menu has finally arrived.
So, the box is out, and the proper tableware is back. This will see meals served on proper plates, with glassware and cutlery to suit.
As part of the new service, Virgin will provide meals suitable for the time of day. As such, there will be breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings. The good news is that there are no in-between times, where a light snack or some such is served.
The meals are said to be simple, although high quality. They will also rotate on a bi-monthly basis. Business-class passengers will also be able to indulge in wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks.
Breakfast
- Smashed avocado and crumbled feta on sourdough,
- Ham and scrambled egg brioche roll with tomato relish
- Bircher muesli with cherry compote
Lunch
- Pumpkin and prosciutto salad served with cheese and crackers and chocolate delight cake
- Turkey, brie and fig jam sourdough melt served with cheese and crackers
- Haloumi and quinoa salad served with cheese and crackers
Dinner
The dinner menu is similar to the lunch menu, and there is some overlap. In the example menus, the sourdough melt has been replaced with a lamb and rosemary pie
- Lamb and rosemary pie with a pumpkin and feta smash, served alongside an antipasto plate with prosciutto, cheese and crackers and a chocolate delight cake
- Pumpkin and prosciutto salad served with cheese and biscuits
- Haloumi and quinoa salad served alongside an antipasto plate with marinated vegetables, cheese and crackers and a chocolate delight cake
Beverages
- Australian white and red wines including Grant Burge NV Sparkling
- Australian craft beers including Green Beacon Tropical Pale Ale
- Selection of popular spirits including vodka, gin, scotch, bourbon and rum.
- Premium tea, coffee, juice and sparkling water
Thoughts
Virgin may have done away with its celebrity chef, but they appear to have come up with a decent menu. It does look as though Virgin is headed in the right direction for business travellers.
