It’s been a while coming, but now we have a date. Velocity have advised that the they will be parting ways with BP as from 31 January 2020.
As a result, you will not be able to earn or redeem Velocity Points at BP as from that date.
The news has been posted on the Velocity Website:
Please note that the last day you will be able to earn or redeem Velocity Points at participating BP stations will be 31 January 2020. To continue to earn and redeem Velocity Points during this period you will need your Velocity membership card. Please also note BP will be removing temporary cards from stores over the coming weeks. You will still need to register temporary cards within 30 days of swiping at a register if you want to collect your Velocity Points.
The ability to earn Velocity Points at BP service stations has been in place for a few years now. However, after some changes on the petrol market, BP will be moving their alliances across to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
Where to?
We do know that BP will be heading over to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. At this point, we do not know the full details of this. However, given todays announcement, we would expect it to be on 1 February or shortly thereafter.
As for Velocity, the current setup with flybuys will continue. Under this arrangement, members can earn flybuys points at Coles Express service stations. These points can then be transferred to Velocity.
