Kogan halves Qantas Point earn rate

Mark BBy Mark BDecember 6, 2018No Comments2 Mins Read

Kogan have reduced the number of Qantas Points that you can earn while shopping online at Kogan.com. As from today (December 6, 2018), the base earn rate has been cut in half – it is now 1 Qantas Point for each 2 dollars of spend.

This compares to the 1 Qantas Points per dollar that has been paid over the last few years. This only affects the earn through Kogan directly, it does not affect the points earn through the Qantas Online Mall – which remains at 2 Qantas Points per dollar.

    Earning Qantas Points at Kogan

Qantas and Kogan have a partnership allowing Qantas Frequent Flyers to earn Qantas Points while shopping at Kogan. The partnership is in addition to the ability to earn points while shopping at Kogan through the Qantas Online Mall.

Under the deal, Qantas Frequent Flyer members will earn 1 Qantas Point for each $2 of spend at Kogan. In order to get the points, you will need to have an account at Kogan, with your Frequent Flyer number attached to it. The account at Kogan.com is free to setup.

This earn is in addition to an earn rate of 2 points per dollar that is available while shopping through the Qantas Online Mall.  Taken together, a shop at the Kogan.com online store yields 2.5 points per dollar – 0.5 points from Kogan.com and 2 points from the mall.

To maximise points earning through Kogan.com, you will need to set up an online account at Kogan.com, and ensure your Qantas Frequent Flyer number has been attached to the account. Then, when it is time to shop, ensure that you begin your shopping session from the Qantas Online Mall, ensuring you are logged in to the Mall before clicking through to Kogan.

Depending on your credit card, you can also earn points on your spend through your credit card account.

Earning bonus points through Kogan is a nice bonus, and it is even better being able to double (or triple) dip on the points. As with all of these offers, we wouldn’t advise that you shop just to earn the points.
