Flybuys members will no longer be able to earn Etihad Guest Tier Miles from the beginning of August The parting of ways has been confirmed in an email sent to members by flybuys.
To an extent, this is a bit of a formality. Parts of the partnership, such as converting flybuys point to Etihad Guest miles has been unavailable since last last year. The only functional part has been the earning of Tier Miles.
Etihad Partnership
Under the 3 year partnership members have been able to
- Redeem flybuys points for Etihad Guest Miles. In the past members were able to convert 10,000 flybuys points to 4,000 Etihad Guest Miles
- Collect flybuys points via the flybuys-Etihad booking portal
- Link their memberships to earn Etihad Guest Tier Miles
As of July 31, this all officially ends. While most of it has previously been put on hold, the one part of the partnership that has been working will continue through to the end of the month
During July, flybuys members will continue to collect Etihad Guest Tier Miles based on their shopping at Coles Supermarkets, Coles online, First Choice Liquor, Liquorland and Coles Express.
From August 1, linked members will no longer earn the Tier Miles, with outstanding Etihad Guest Tier Miles being transferred the end of August.
While the loss of a partner is never good, in this case it is largely making it official. For the most part, the benefits of the partnership have been unavailable for a number of months.
