Velocity has launched a promotion offering a discount of 30% on the points required for an award tickets. The sale runs until February 28 and is valid for travel between 15 Mar 2018 and 9 Jan 2019.

The 30% off promotion applies to a range of award seats, and is available for travel Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, Alitalia, Delta Air Lines and Air New Zealand (Trans Tasman only).
Along with the discounted seats, Velocity are promoting transfers from their partners. The unusual part of this promotion is that they are discounting seats rather than offering a transfer bonus. Having said that, there is still a bonus 15% on offer from Flybuys for the next week.
The discount applies only to the points component of the award. The case component (which is made up of various fees and taxes) is not discounted.
As examples of the types of discounts on offer, I have found business Reward seats between Melbourne and Perth at 24,800 points (rather than the usual 33,500 points). The cash component of just over $20 remained the same.
This is a good opportunity to use your points for some well priced redemption’s. As always, you do need to remain flexible with your travel dates to get the best deal.
