IHG One Rewards has rolled out the ability to use Food and Beverage Rewards across Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand.
Food and Beverage Rewards are available to members through Milestone Rewards. This is a feature of the program that offers additional benefits to members. Members receive rewards for every 10 nights stayed, starting from night 20.
What is a Food and Beverage Reward?
IHG One Rewards food and beverage rewards are credits that you can use to reduce the cost of your food and beverage purchases charged to your room.
Food and Beverage Rewards are awarded in one of six currencies. The selection of currency is based on your currency of residence and will be one of US Dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Chinese yuan, Japanese yen, and Saudi riyals. As Australian Dollars are not a supported currency, IHG Rewards issues US Dollar Rewards to Australian residents.
When awarded in US Dollars, the credit is worth 20 US Dollars.
How do you earn Food and Beverage Rewards?
Food and Beverage Rewards are issued through the IGH One Rewards Milestone Rewards feature. You receive your first choice of The first Milestone Rewards after staying 20 nights in a calendar tear. Following that, there are additional Rewards available after every 10 nights up to 100 nights.
If you are after Food and Beverage Rewards, the good news is it is available as a choice at each milestone. For the first two milestones, you can choose to receive two US$20 credits. On subsequent milestones, one of the choices is five US$20 credits.
The Milestone Rewards choices you get after staying a certain number of nights are as follows:
- 20 nights: 5,000 bonus points, two US$20 food and beverage rewards, or one confirmable suite upgrade.
- 30 nights: 5,000 bonus points or two US$20 food and beverage rewards.
- 40 nights (choose two): 10,000 bonus points, five US$20 food and beverage rewards, one confirmable suite upgrade (limit one), or one annual lounge membership (limit one).
- 50 nights: 10,000 bonus points or five US$20 food and beverage rewards.
- 60 nights: 10,000 bonus points or five US$20 food and beverage rewards.
- 70 nights (choose two): 10,000 bonus points, five US$20 food and beverage rewards, two confirmable suite upgrades (limit one) or one annual lounge membership (limit one).
- 80 nights: 10,000 bonus points or five US$20 food and beverage rewards.
- 90 nights:10,000 bonus points or five US$20 food and beverage rewards.
- 100 nights: 10,000 bonus points or five US$20 food and beverage rewards.
How do you use a Food and Beverage Rewards?
Food and Beverage Rewards are able to be used on a range of charges. These include hotel restaurant charges, in-room dining, or minibar items. On the other hand, any third-party restaurants, third-party food delivery services, or marketplace items aren’t eligible.
You have a couple of steps to perform in order to redeem a reward. Firstly, you will need to charge the Food and Beverage purchase to your room bill.
After that, when you are ready to check out, check in the IHG App for the credit. You then have a couple of steps to follow in order to redeem the credit, and the credit will be applied to your room bill.
Thoughts
Milestone Rewards have been slowly rolling out since their introduction almost 2 years ago. While you have been able to select Food and Beverage Rewards, you haven’t been able to redeem them in Asia Pacific. It is good to see IHG roll this out more broadly.
