IHG Rewards has launched its latest promotion allowing you to earn Unlimited Double Points on eligible stays. The new offer is valid for stays between 1 January and 31 September 2026, and as with most IHG One Rewards promotions, you must register first.
Under the offer, you will earn double points from your second stay. That means that while you are unable to earn double points on your first stay in January, all subsequent stays will count.
While the promotion does not start until 1 January, members are able to pre-register now.

The double points are calculated on the base rate of all eligible stays. In the case of this promotion, an eligible stay excludes nights where the room rate is less than $30 per night. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately), such rates are unlikely in Australia.
In addition, there is no particular booking time frame. As such, it doesn’t matter when you book the stays – even ones that you have already booked will count.
Value
The double points are calculated on the base earn rate. IHG do not double any additional bonus that you may be eligible for. For example, any status bonus will not be doubled.
For most brands, the earn rate is 10 IHG Rewards Points per US dollar of eligible spend during your stay. The exception to this are brands such as Staybridge Suites, where it drops to 5 points per dollar.
Thoughts
While it is a fairly simple promotion, it is not an overly generous one. Definitely not as rewarding as the triple points promotion that is just winding up.
Certainly, it is not one that would entice me to swap my stays around. However, if you have long, expensive stays it may be more worthwhile – just remember to get that first stay in.
