Qantas launches ‘Find My Credit’ tool, offers double points

    MarkBy MarkJune 26, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Qantas has launched a new  ‘Find My Credit’ online tool, that you can use to help find any credits you have with Qantas. The tool can help you to locate bookings that are up to three years old. This includes bookings that may have changed several times over the course of the pandemic.

The tool can be used to find credits for flights that were booked:

    • with Qantas directly
    • through a travel agent (includes online sites)
    • through Jetstar

In order to encourage Qantas Frequent Flyers to use their credits, they are offering double points on bookings made through a Covid credit. In order to be eligible for the double points, you will need to make a booking using your credit by 31 July 2023.

    What credits does Qantas hold?

Overall, Qantas says that it holds $400 million in unused credits from across the period of the pandemic. Of those credits, about $250 million were from bookings made directly with Qantas. The balance of $150 million is from bookings made through travel agents.

Qantas has now put a deadline on using the credits. If you have a credit, you now have until 31 December 2023 to use the credit. However, the travel period can be any time through late 2024.

As noted, if you make an eligible booking by 31 July, for travel from 1 August, you could receive double points. You can access and register for the double points promotion here.

How to use the Find My Credit Tool

The Find My Credit tool is available on the Qantas website, and accessed through Qantas.com. You will need to search on the website, as the tool is not available from the Qantas App.

By using the tool, you are able to search for a credit, using the original booking details. For example, to search, you will need the booking reference of the original booking. Overall, the details you may need to provide are

    • the last name(s) of passenger(s) on the booking
    • the email address of the booking
    • your ticket number or your PNR number (6 alphanumeric character booking ref)
    • your Qantas Pass / Travel Pass details

Once you perform a search it will tell you if it finds a credit, which you can then use to make a booking. Note that if you originally booked through a travel agent, it will give you the details of the travel agent that the booking was made through. In this case, you will need to contact the travel agent.

    Can I get a refund?

Qantas says that in many cases, customers may be eligible for a refund. In fact , Qantas says that this could be the case for about 80% of the credits it holds.
