Qantas has unveiled the entire cabin design of its forthcoming A350 fleet. These ‘Project Sunrise’ aircraft will be used by Qantas to fly non-stop from Sydney to New York and London starting in late 2025.
While Qantas revealed the First and Business cabins earlier this year, the latest reveal shows Premium Economy and Economy. In addition, the airline has revealed the aircraft will include a Wellbeing Zone. The new Wellbeing Zone will be located between the Premium Economy and the Economy cabins.
Overall, the aircraft will be able to carry 238 passengers on flights of up to 22 hours in length. Of those 238 passengers, 40 can be seated in Premium Economy, while Economy will be able to seat 140 passengers. Further forward in the aircraft, there will be six First Class suites and 52 Business suites.
Premium Economy
As with all of the cabins, Qantas has taken the opportunity to rethink the Premium Economy cabin. When comparing the new seating with the existing seats, the most obvious change is the headrest wings. Furthermore, the seats will have an upholstered ergonomic foot and leg rest system. This has been designed to allow the body to be cradled in recline to better help passengers sleep.
Economy
In the Economy cabin, passengers will be able to enjoy an OLED 13” TV screen, a foot net, and convenient storage space. On top of that, the seats will have a 33-inch pitch. Pitch refers to the distance from the back of one seat to the back of the seat in front of it. As a point of comparison, much of the Qantas fleet provides a 31-inch pitch in Economy.
Wellbeing Zone
As mentioned, between the two cabins, Qantas has set aside what it refers to as the Wellbeing Zone. The purpose of this zone is to provide a space where passengers can spend time out of their seats. As such, it provides a place to have a stretch or to grab a snack.
