Regional Express (Rex) has announced its 12th jet service with the launch of flights between Adelaide and Perth. This follows hot the heals of the announcement of a Melbourne to Perth service last week.
Rex has chosen to go down a slightly different path with the Adelaide-Perth services. Instead of operating their own aircraft, the service will be operated by National Jet Express using an Embraer E-190 aircraft.
While that may sound unusual, it is worth noting that Rex has a 50% stake in National Jet Express. As such, Rex can count National Jet as a group member.
Schedule
At launch, the new service will operate 3 days per week between the two capital cities. These flights will operate on Monday, Friday and Sunday and will kick off on 28 June. This is helpfully in time for the school holidays.
As the aircraft is based in Perth, the schedule sees flights operating from Perth to Adelaide, and then returning to Perth. The schedule is as follows:
- From Perth to Adelaide, flight ZL1212 heads off from Perth at 11:55 am landing in Adelaide at 4:15 pm
- From Adelaide to Perth, flight ZL1217 leaves Adelaide at 5.00 pm with an evening arrival into Perth at 7.00 pm.
While three days a week does not seem like a lot, Rex say that they intend to increase the number of services once they have established the route.
Fares
Airfares start from $249 in Economy which includes baggage and refreshments onboard. The National Jet E190 aircraft don’t feature a Business cabin, so unfortunately there is no Business Class available on this route.
As with the Melbourne-Perth route, Rex will operate out of Terminal 2 in Perth. At this point, there has been no announcement regarding lounge facilities in Perth.
