Virgin Australia has announced that it will be increasing the annual membership cost of lounge membership from 1 July 2024. At the same time it will be removing the current joining fee waiver.
It’s not all bad news though. There will be a reduction in the prices of a lounge pass for children aged between 2 and 17.
The Changes
First off, if you need to pay the joining fee, you’ll be up for a $99 joining fee. You’ll need to pay this if you are joining The Lounge for the first time. In addition, if you have let your membership lapse for more than a month, you will need to pay this to rejoin.
Secondly, there is the annual fee. This will be increasing from $399 to $450 per year. That represents an increase of $51 per year, or 12.78%.
As noted before, there is actually one decrease coming through. That is for a lounge pass for children aged 2-17.
Velocity Platinum and Gold members
These changes do not affect Velocity members holding Gold or Platinum status. These members will continue to have complimentary access to the Virgin Australia lounges.
Final Words
The change in membership fees comes just a couple of months after Qantas announced increases to the Qantas Club membership fees.
