Virgin Australia has launched a competition offering prizes to those that have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
The “VA-X and WIN” competition is open to Velocity members that have received both doses of a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine. While the competition has just opened, it will be taking entries through to the end of the year. This is to allow enough time for most Australians to have had an opportunity to have the jabs.
VA-X and WIN prizes
All up, there are 251 prizes on offer. The prizes are as follows:
- 1st Prize: 1 million Velocity Points (1 prize)
- 2nd Prize: 100,000 Velocity Points (10 prizes)
- 3rd Prize: Return Business flights with Virgin Australia (25 prizes)
- 4th Prize: Return Economy flights with Virgin Australia (50 prizes)
- 5th Prize: Virgin Australia lounge memberships (30 prizes)
- 6th Prize: 10,000 Velocity Points (50 prizes)
- 7th Prize: Virgin Australia PJs (85 prizes)
Entering the Competition
In order to enter, you simply need to fill in the entry form at virginaustralia.com/vaxandwin. In order to enter, you do need to be a Velocity member. If you are not a member, you can join for free, and then enter.
When filling in the form you will need to declare that you have had both doses of a TGA-approved vaccine. At this point, you do not have to provide any proof of this. However, if you win a prize, Virgin may request that you provide evidence that you have indeed been vaccinated.
Finally, the prize draw will take place on 10 January 2022. The winners should be notified by 12 January 2022.
Thoughts
If vaccination is our way out of the pandemic, then it is in the interests of airlines to ensure as many people as possible get vaccinated. To this end, Virgin Australia joins Qantas in offering rewards to those that have been vaccinated.
However, Virgin has taken a slightly different tack. Instead of something for everyone, Virgin has gone with a straight competition. This does mean that they don’t have to get everyone to upload evidence of their vaccinations – you only need to prove it if you win.
I’ll certainly be tossing my hat in the ring to try and win a prize.
