The beginning of winter sees Virgin Australia rolling out some changes to its onboard menus. For Business Class passengers it sees the introduction of a new menu. Meanwhile, passengers in the Economy cabin will see 12 new additions to the Buy onboard menu.

    Business Class Menu

According to Virgin Australia, the new Business Class menu has been carefully curated and taste tested by the airline’s Cabin Crew and Velocity Frequent Flyer’s members.

Some of the options that you may see on upcoming flights include

    • Breakfast
      • Corn fritters with goat cheese and capsicum relish
      • Cheese and chive crumpet with bacon, scrambled eggs and beans
      • Frittata with crumbled feta, pumpkin and tomato relish
      • Bacon, egg, sausage, tomato with Turkish bread
    • Lunch/Dinner
      • Pumpkin gnocchi, creamy pesto with optional chorizo
      • Soba noodle salad with chicken and teriyaki dressing
      • Cheese tortellini Caesar salad with optional prosciutto
      • Cheese tortellini with tomato pesto
      • Sweet pork belly with rice and vegetables
      • Cheese tortellini with tomato pesto
    • Dessert Items
      • Goat cheese with apricot and sumac amuse bouche
      • Mango coconut cake
      • White chocolate and macadamia cake

The options will be available on a rotating basis.

    Economy Class

As is currently the case, tea, coffee and water will continue to be offered on a complimentary basis. However, they are being tweaked. On the coffee front, Virgin Australia will be introducing a new Grinders coffee blend, while tea lovers will see a new range of tea from Love Tea.

As part of the changes, the buy onboard menu is being expanded. In addition to new snack options, there are also new more substantial meal options.

Virgin says that the cheese and crackers packets are their most popular option. In fact, this year alone, more than 50,000 packets have been sold each month. In line with its popularity, the new menu will see the introduction of artisan mature-aged cheese and crackers.

But that is not all. The airline will also be adding some more meal-like items to the menu. These include items such as ham and cheese sourdough toasties, chicken and sun-dried tomato pesto wraps, and chicken salad sourdough sandwiches. For those with a sweet tooth, the airline has also added Pascall Jet Plane lollies to the menu.

For longer services, such as those to and from Perth, there will also be hot options available. These hot dishes include items such as pesto pasta and Penang chicken curry.
