50% discount on KrisFlyer Economy Saver Award bookings

Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program has launched a new promotion offering members a discount of 50% off the usual redemption cost on selected Singapore Airlines and SilkAir economy flights.

The offer includes flights to 25 of Singapore Airlines destinations, including three in Australia. The booking and travel period for the promotion is from May 20 through to July 10 2015. The flights include one-way and return bookings.

Australian specials

For Australia, the flights available for redemption are:

As can be seen from the tables, you’ll need 12,500 KrisFlyer miles each way between Brisbane and Singapore Airport, and just 10,000 points in the case of Perth or Darwin. Unfortunately, Krisflyer hasn’t provided a special for services to its other Australian ports of Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.

There are a few things that should be kept in mind with these specials. First up, they are only available online, however,  the 15% discount that normally applies to online bookings does not apply for these bookings. In addition, they are only available for the specified city pairs. If you want to redeem bookings between Australia and Europe, then separate bookings will be required.

Velocity Members

Velocity members are also able to take advantage of this offer through the points transfer process that is available to them. Under this program, Velocity points may be transferred to Krisfyer at a rate of 1.35 Velocity points to 1 Krisflyer point. After transferring the Velocity points over to Krisflyer, it is then a matter of booking the desired flights through the Krisflyer website.
