    Spontaneous Escapes
    Spontaneous Escapes

Spontaneous Escapes, a monthly offer from Krisflyer, offers discounts off the KrisFlyer miles for a range of last-minute flights. These are typically available mid-month, and right on schedule, a new batch of Spontaneous Escapes has just been released.

For Singapore Airlines flights, the discount is generally 30% off the award rates. In the case of Scoot, there is a smaller discount of 15%

These discounted awards can be booked between now until 30 June. They are valid for travel during July 2026.

While it helps fill planes, Spontaneous Escapes offers great value if you can take advantage of the offer. You just need to be flexible.

All that said, it’s slim pickings for those of us in Australia this month. There’s three Scoot offers (all to Australia), and one Singapore Airlines offer (to Darwin).

    You can peruse the offer:

    • For Singapore Airlines, on the Singapore Airlines website.
    • For Scoot, on the Scoot website

    Key Points

In order to successfully book at the discounted price, you will need to ensure you meet the requirements.

    • Booking Period:
      • You need to ensure that you have made the booking by the end of June
    • Travel Period: The required travel periods are
      • Between 1 July and 31 July. Blackout periods exist on some routes.
    • Restrictions:
      • When booking multiple flights, the entire booking needs to be within the travel period.
      • You will be unable to cancel these bookings, so make sure your travel plans are definite.

    Spontaneous Escapes

Spontaneous Escapes are a regular feature of the KrisFlyer program. Every month, Singapore Airlines usually offers a 30% or more discount off the usual KrisFlyer miles required. While the main limitation is that it is for last-minute award travel, you can book across the Singapore Airlines network. Under the offer, you can book Saver awards in both Economy and Business class, for travel during the following month.

It is worth noting that these are discounted redemptions. As a result, they have additional restrictions over and above the rules on normal Award bookings.

Firstly, discounts are on offer for flights to and from Singapore. This doesn’t stop you from connecting in Singapore. However, if you do, the points you require will be the lesser of

    • the sum of the two individual flights or
    • the regular price.

If you need to change the flights, you will be out of luck. You cannot cancel or make changes to a Spontaneous Escapes award booking.

All flights in this promotion need to be taken during the promotion period. If any flights fall outside the promotion period, they will all be priced at the regular Award prices.

Finally, you need to book on the Singapore Airlines website to access the discount.

The following options are available for travel between Australia and Singapore. This month there are a range of options to get to Singapore. Not so much on the way back.

    Final Words

These Spontaneous Escapes are good for those who can travel at short notice and are unlikely to change their flights.

It is also worth keeping in mind that new escapes are released nearly every month. The destinations and even Australian routes on offer vary from month to month, it is worth checking back mid-month.

If you’re flexible, and can make bookings at short notice, a discount business class seat on Singapore Airlines could be a good idea.
