A look at the refurbished Parmelia Hilton Perth

    MarkBy MarkApril 5, 2021No Comments3 Mins Read

The Parmelia Hilton in Perth reopened in February following a 10-month refurbishment.

Entering the hotel, you first notice that the Lobby has been completely reworked. However, it’s not just the lobby. Pretty much everything in the hotel has been updated to a greater or lesser extent. The guest rooms have had a makeover, and there are now 32 more rooms than before.

One thing that had been lacking in the Parmelia Hilton was an executive lounge. While the hotel did provide Diamond members evening canapes in the bar, it was not really the same as a lounge.  Hilton Honors Diamond members can now celebrate that the hotel now has an Executive Lounge.

    Parmelia Hilton

The Parmelia Hilton is located at 5 Mill Street, on the edge of the CBD. It’s just down from the intersection with St Georges Terrace. By taxi, it is roughly a 20-30 drive from the airport.

On check-in, I was given a bag with 2 bottles of water. I always remember they left these in the room, but I guess these are different times now.

The rooms have had a significant makeover. Less gold and brown now, more an off-white colour.

Overall, it all feels more modern than it did in its pre-renovation times.

    Samuels

The restaurant formerly known as the Adelphi is now Samuels. It’s in the same location, and it is laid out pretty much the same. During my stay, we were sent there for breakfast, as the lounge was not ready for breakfast.

Breakfast is pretty much the same buffet as it has ever been. Eggs are cooked freshly for you when you order.

    Executive Lounge

The refurbishment sees the Parmelia Hilton gain an Executive Lounge. This is good news for Diamond Members who will gain access to the area. While they were previously offered a few extras in the hotel bar, this was no real replacement for a lounge.

The lounge is located along the walkway to Brookfield Plaza.

    Gym and Pool

As you would expect in a property of this type, the hotel includes a gym and pool. The gym includes a range of weight and cardio equipment.

In addition to the gym, there is an outdoor pool, complete with shaded areas and sunlounges.

    Thoughts

The Parmelia Hilton has been part of Perth for many years now. This latest refresh is a vote of confidence from Hilton, and it feels fresher. The colour scheme is certainly more contemporary.

Having said that, there is no mistaking that this is still the Parmelia Hilton. But it is better.

And of course, there is the new Executive Lounge. Something that had been missing from the hotel for a long time.
