Accor Plus is tweaking its program and will be giving members a bonus 20 Status Nights per year. You’ll get the bonus nights when signing up to the program, and then at each annual renewal.
The changes look to be starting on 1 August, with the Accor Plus website being updated to reflect the change.
This is in addition to the existing offer of being awarded Silver. While 20 Status nights would get you silver anyway, it works out to be a better offer. That’s because it will put you on the fast track to Gold or Platinum status.
At present, the offer of Silver doesn’t help you to get to Gold or Platinum. However, as you can attain Gold or Platinum by staying enough nights, having 20 bonus nights will help you get there quicker.
What the Bonus 20 Status Nights will mean
How the bonus status nights affects you, will depend on how many nights you stay in a year. Let’s work through some examples.
Classic Members
If you are a classic member, and sign up to Accor Plus, you will get to Silver level. That’s because you need 10 Status Nights per calendar year to attain silver. Once your 20 Status Nights bonus lands in your account, you will have achieved the requirements for Silver. Effectively, this is the same situation as the current offer.
Silver Members
What if you are already Silver? In this case, you may get a boost up to Gold. This will happen if you have already achieved 10 Status Nights in the year when you sign up. Once the bonus 20 Status Nights lands, this will take your total to 30 nights or more, and you will then be at the Gold level.
On the other hand, if you have attained Silver through Status Points, but have not stayed those 10 nights already, you’ll remain at Silver.
Gold Members
If you’re already Gold Elite, then there are two possibilities. You may get a boost to Platinum, or you may stay at Gold.
One path to achieve Platinum is to earn 60 Status nights per year. So, if you stay 40 nights already, the bonus 20 nights will give you a boost up to those 60 nights.
Of course, if you haven’t got to 40 nights, then you’ll remain at Gold. However, it will still help you get closer to Platinum.
Platinum and Diamond Members
For Platinum and Diamond members, you will remain at the same status. This is because Diamond can only be achieved through earning Status Points. The 20 bonus Status Nights won’t help you in this case.
Existing Members
According to Accor Plus, existing members (those that have already renewed this year) will be receiving a bonus of 20 Status Nights. They expect this to be in the accounts of eligible users within 10 days.
Final Words
Overall, these looks to be a positive improvement to the program. Instead of handing out Silver, members will receive bonus status nights. This will help them to achieve Gold or Platinum status.
This change brings Accor Plus into line with the way that the ALL Plus program works. Rather than just handing out status, Accor give you bonus status nights. This helps elevate you to even higher status levels.
It’s perhaps not surprising. When ALL Plus was announced, Accor noted that the current Accor Plus program would be rebranded into the ALL Plus family next year.
