American Express are offering Membership Rewards members a 50% bonus when transferring Membership Rewards Points to Hilton Honors. The bonus is on offer for transfers made between February 22 and March 15, 2019.
For members of the Ascent or Gateway programs, the normal transfer rate is 1,000 Membership Rewards points equals 1,000 Hilton Honors points. During the bonus period, you will be able to get 1,500 Hilton Honors points for that 1,000 Membership Rewards points.
It is worth remembering that there are some broad changes that are coming to American Express redemption’s on April15. At that time, the redemption rate for Hilton Honors will effectively halve.
As a result of these changes, a number of people find themselves considering their points future. For those facing the value of their points halving overnight, then doing something with their points before April 15 makes a lot of sense.
While Hilton Honors points may not be the best transfer option, at the moment, it may make sense. Given the changes to Membership Rewards value, for some, transferring out to Hilton Honors is worth considering. Certainly, the current 50% offer tips the scales a little in the favour of Hilton Honors.
