Earn 3,000 bonus Velocity Points with Virgin Australia Hotels

    MarkBy MarkAugust 20, 2019No Comments3 Mins Read

Velocity are offering a bonus of 3,000 Velocity Points when making a booking of over $500 on a hotel through Virgin Australia.  The bonus is paid over the standard 3 Velocity Points per dollar that is usually paid.

You can stay anytime after booking your room, through to 13 June 2020.

This could be a worthwhile offer if you are spending just over $500 on a hotel.

    Virgin Australia Hotels Offer details

    • Offer: Spend over $500 and earn 3,000 Bonus Velocity Points on all hotels booked with Virgin Australia hotels.
    • Booking Dates: You must book between 19 and 21 August 2019
    • Stay Date: You can stay anytime until 31 July 2020.

    Booking through Virgin Australia Hotels

Virgin Australia sell hotel accommodation through a partnership with Expedia. In effect, the Virgin Australia hotels website is a version of the Expedia website. Through the partnership, Virgin Australia can offer rooms at over 650,000 hotels around the world.

This is a decent number of hotels, and triple the number that Qantas Hotels offers.

If you’ve ever booked a hotel through Expedia, then the process will be quite familiar. You need to remember that in order to earn Velocity Points, your Velocity Number has to be added during the booking process.

    The Booking Process

The simplest starting point is from the Virgin Australia homepage, where you can select to search for hotels.

Alternatively, you can start at the Virgin Australia – Expedia portal.

If you search for Singapore, you will be presented with the a range of hotels to choose from:.

Once you have selected the hotel, the next step is to select a specific room, and other options. Following that step, you proceed to the payment page. It is on this page that you will need to enter your Velocity Number.

The regular earn rate is 3 Velocity Points per dollar spent at over 650,000 hotels that feature in the booking portal. From time to time, Velocity run promotions that offer a higher earn rate.

The downside is that it could be some time before you get your points. Velocity say that the points will be awarded 6-8 weeks after the stay has been completed.

    Is it good value?

At the standard rate of 3 Velocity Points per dollar, there are generally better offers around. When there is a bonus, such as 9 Velocity Points per dollar, the equation changes. As always, it is best to compare the options around.

For example, Hotels.com run a program that effectively returns 10% of you spend. If you have an elite membership with a hotel chain, then there may be value in booking direct.

As always, shop around, and look for the best deal.
