Velocity Frequent Flyer has launched a promotion offering a bonus of 20% when transferring from selected partners.
Firstly, there are credit card partners NAB and American Express. In addition, there is a range of hotel programs participating in the promotion.
The Current Velocity Transfer Bonus
To participate in the promotion, you need to make a transfer to Velocity between 7 September and 20 September. The full list of partners participating in the transfer bonus is:

- Marriott Bonvoy
The promotion is open to all Velocity members. Furthermore, there is no need to register. In order to receive the bonus points, you simply need to initiate the transfer between 7 and 20 September.
Thoughts
Last week we received confirmation that Bain could move forward with acquiring Virgin Australia. As a result, one can have more confidence in the Velocity program.
Recently, we have also seen Velocity increasing the number of redemption options available. Firstly, they added domestic redemption opportunities. Secondly, you were also able to redeem for hotel stays and rental cars. Finally, Velocity has just reopened the Velocity Rewards Store.
Taken together, this shows that things are slowly returning to normal. As a result, I think there is less risk in transferring points to Velocity than there has been.
Having said that, some of the more interesting redemption options are not available. In this, I am thinking of two main opportunities. Firstly, international redemption options remain off the table. Secondly, the ability to transfer to Krisflyer has not returned.
I don’t think it is a bad promotion. It is also good to see Velocity moving back towards promotions. Having said that, I probably won’t be taking up this offer.
