Accor has announced a new collection brand – introducing the Handwritten Collection. This is a new mid-scale collection brand launching with a range of hotels worldwide. In the initial tranche of hotels are two in Australia. These are the Wonil Hotel in Perth, and the Hotel Morris in Sydney.
The Handwritten Collection
Overall, the brand aims to bring a range of mid-scale hotels under its umbrella. To begin with, Accor will be aiming to bring conversion projects into the fold, in preference to new build projects.
Handwritten Collection offers a variety of hotels that are distinct. The guest experience at Handwritten Collection brings to life the spirit of the host: their tastes, their passions, and the little quirks of their personality. Each local hotelier provides a charming presence that weaves their character and personality into the fabric of their hotel, engaging guests with local wisdom and delightful conversation, bringing personalized energy to the guest experience.

Thoughts
Collection brands seem to be a growing trend in the hotel industry. The Handwritten Collection joins two other collection brands in Accor. The first of these was the MGallery collection, a range of upper upscale hotels. Secondly, there is the Emblems collection, housing a range of hotels in the luxury category.
In comparison, the Handwritten Collection is aimed at mid-scale hotels. This puts it alongside the Novotel and Mercure brands within the existing Accor portfolio.
What is not clear yet is how it will fit into the ALL – Accor Live Limitless program. Hopefully, it will provide the standard benefits of that program.
