IHG One Rewards promo: 2,000 points every 2 nights or 10,000 points every 4 nights

    MarkBy MarkMay 24, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

IHG One Rewards has just launched its latest global promotion. This time around, members will have to make a choice between two options.  Firstly, members can opt for 2,000 points after every two nights. Alternatively, the promotion offers the option of 10,000 bonus points after every four nights.

    Key Details

    • Offer: You Choose promotion. Pick one of
      • 2,000 points after each 2 nights
      • 10,000 points after each 4 nights
    • Stay Dates: You must stay between 6 June – 31 August 2023.
    • Registration: Registration of your choice is required, You can make this choice anytime from 24 May 2023. Stays only count after you have registered.

There are a few extra points to keep in mind. Firstly, there is no particular booking timeline that you need to adhere to. Nearly any paid stay will do (as long as the nightly rate is at least US$30).

Secondly, the nights do not need to be consecutive. You earn 2,000 points after two nights, or 10,000 points after four nights, regardless of how many stays it takes.

Finally, there is no limit to the number of bonus points you can earn. The bonus points will be earned after each two, or four, nights.

    Which should you choose?

It’s an interesting idea that you get to choose which promotion you wish to take advantage of. On the one hand, you can choose 2,000 points after every two nights, or 10,000 points after every four nights.

Mathematically, if you are going to stay four or more nights during the offer period, then you are better off with the 10,000 points option. If, however, you are going to stay less than four nights, then you are better off with the 2,000 points option.

As an example, let’s stay you stay 6 nights during the period. If you choose the 10,000 points option you would receive a total of 10,000 bonus points after night 4. On the other hand, if you chose the 2,000 points you would get a total of 6,000 bonus points.

    A word of warning

IHG Rewards have been sending out invitations to register with a one-click registration. It is worth noting that these emails come with a pre-selected option, which may not be what you want. If you don’t want the pre-selected option, make sure you click through to the promotion page to select the option you want.

    Thoughts

IHG One Rewards ran a promotion with the same options last year. It’s interesting to see it return.

If you plan to take advantage of the promotion, think carefully about which option will be most beneficial to you. So, while it is sometimes beneficial to sign up immediately for a promotion, this one might need a little more care. If you are unsure of your stays over the promotion period, it might be worth waiting until they become clearer.
