Last month we heard the surprising news that the InterContinental Singapore was preparing to leave the IHG stable. At the time, there was no indication as to what flag the property would operate under after that time.
Now we know. Under a new agreement with hotel owner, Frasers Hospitality, the hotel will operate under Marriott’s The Luxury Collection from 1 January 2026. This will make it the second hotel in The Luxury Collection in Singapore, and the first in the city centre. The first The Luxury Collection Hotel, The Laurus, opened earlier this month on Sentosa Island.
Hotel
The hotel will be configured pretty much as it is now as an InterContinental Hotel. It will feature 406 guestrooms and suites, starting from 38 square metres.
Planned facilities include a fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool, and six distinctive dining and social venues, including an all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge, and a pool bar.
The property is also slated to offer approximately 1,000 square metres of flexible event space, including a 540-square-metre ballroom, providing an elegant setting for both corporate gatherings and social celebrations.
Location
The hotel is in quite a convenient location in Singapore. Located in the Bugis Junction mixed-use development, it offers direct access to Bugis MRT Station and is in close proximity to Kampong Glam and Arab Street.
Oriol Montal, Regional Vice President, Luxury, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International said:
We are pleased to collaborate with Frasers Hospitality to bring The Luxury Collection to the heart of Singapore, a gateway city that continues to inspire global travelers with its blend of tradition and modernity
This signing underscores our confidence in Singapore and our commitment to growing our luxury footprint in this world-class city. The hotel will be part of our award-winning Marriott Bonvoy travel programme, offering members more opportunities to enjoy exceptional stays and exclusive experiences.
Final Words
At the time we learned of the InterContinental’s departure from IHG, the word on the street was that it was moving over to Marriott. That said, there was no real indication of which brand it would fall under.
Now we know it will become Singapore’s second Marriott property in The Luxury Collection. That said, the actual name of the hotel is yet to be disclosed (unless I missed it somewhere).
All up, perhaps good news for Marriott Bonvoy members. Not so good news for IHG One Rewards members.
