Marriott has announced the name of its unified loyalty program – Marriott Bonvoy. This follows the integration of Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards schemes on August 18 last year. While they have been on a common platform for a few months, they will operate under the new Marriott Bonvoy name from February 13.
Name Changes
Along with the new program name, Marriott will be changing a few other names. Two of the elite status tiers will be renamed:
- Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite will replace Platinum Premier Elite. This level recognises members that stay more than 75 nights in a year.
- Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite will replace Platinum Premier Elite with Ambassador. You get awarded this status once you have stayed 100 nights and more than USD$20,000 (approx. AUD$27,770) in spend annually.
The existing Marriott Rewards Moments and SPG Moments will combine into the single Marriott Bonvoy Moments program. Together with Marriott Moments, there will be approximately 120,000 experiences in 1,000 destinations available for purchase or by redeeming points.
App and website changes
At the same time, the Starwood Preferred Guest and Ritz-Carlton Rewards websites and mobile apps will also be deactivated. Members will all be funneled through the new Marriott Bonvoy website or new Marriott Bonvoy app.If
If you are have the Marriott Rewards app installed on a device, this will automatically update to Marriott Bonvoy from February 13. On the other hand, if you are using the current SPG or Ritz-Carlton apps, you will need to download and use the new Bonvoy app.
What’s Not Changing
The changes announced for February 13 are pretty significant. Fortunately, that is about it for that day – everything else remains as it is today. Your login stays the same, your account stays the same, the rest of the program stays the same.
