Movenpick is a relatively new entrant into the Australia and New Zealand hotel market. While managed by Accor, it’s a Swiss company and brings a Swiss flair to its hotels.
Over the last few years, it has started opening hotels in Australia and New Zealand.
The Movenpick Hotel Hobart was the first, opening its doors to the public in early 2021. Since then, the brand has continued to grow, comprising 2 hotels in Australia, and another 2 in New Zealand.
If you thought Movenpick was a brand of ice cream, you’d be right. The ice cream, as well as other Movenpick branded food and beverage, is on offer at the hotels.
But wait, there’s more. There’s chocolate. With its Swiss background, the hotels dedicate an hour each day to ‘The Chocolate Hour’. This is an indulgent tasting experience, allowing hotel guests to sample an assortment of sweet treats, such as éclairs, brownies, truffles and more.
Mövenpick Hotel Hobart
The Movenpick Hotel Hobart was the first of the brand to open its doors in Australia. Located on Elizabeth St, the 4 star hotel features 221 rooms and suites, offering either harbour or city views.
If you’re looking for something to eat, the hotel features Tesoro Modern Italian, a restaurant which features a bar and lounge.
And of course, there’s the chocolate. The daily Chocolate Hour runs from 3:30-4:30pm, and includes desserts such as eclairs, brownies, and truffles.
Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne On Spencer
The 5-star Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer was the second Mövenpick in Australia. Situated opposite Southern Cross station, it is in an ideal location to access all that Melbourne has to offer.
As with its Hobart sibling, a daily hour of chocolate indulgence is on offer. Between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm, you can indulge in daily chocolate creations in the lobby bar.
The hotel also features the well-regarded Miss Mi restaurant. Miss Mi serves Asian food, with influences from across Asia.
Mövenpick Hotel Auckland
Across the Tasman, the opening of Movenpick Hotel Auckland marked the entry of the brand into New Zealand. Opening in May 2022, the hotel is located at 8 Customs Street East.
The hotel features 207 guestrooms and suites, together with a conference centre and library.
Being a Movenpick, there’s the daily Chocolate Hour. Located in the hotel’s lobby, you can indulge in chocolate themed sweets, and enjoy demonstrations such as truffle rolling.
Or perhaps you’d like a sundae dessert. These are on offer round the clock, allowing you to indulge even at 3 in the morning.
Mövenpick Hotel Wellington
The Movenpick Hotel Wellington is conveniently located on The Terrace, overlooking the Cuba Quarter. Give its location, it is within walking distance of attractions such as Te Papa, and close to restaurants and bars.
The hotel’s own Forage Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner serving New Zealand-inspired cuisine. Forage Bar serves a range of drinks, including coffee, beers, wines, and spirits,
