Optus offering an easy 60,000 Qantas Points

    MarkBy MarkSeptember 1, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

Optus and Qantas have brought back their popular offer of 60,000 Qantas Points for taking up a new plan. Under the offer, Frequent Flyers could score the 60,000 Qantas Points for less than $400.

But you’ll have to be quick to take advantage of this offer. You’ll need to take up the required plan by 5 September.

How to get the 60,000 Qantas Points

The 60,000 Qantas Points is available to members taking out a specific $99 200GB Plan. You must signup through a dedicated Optus promotion page which you will find here.

This plan itself is a month-to-month “SIM only” plan with no lock-in contract. However, to get the 60,000 Qantas Points you will need to activate the service and keep it active for at least 3 months.

With this plan, you get 200GB of Optus 5G data (where available), endless capped data at 1.5 Mbps i(f you exceed your allowance), and unlimited Talk & Text within Australia. For entertainment, you also gain access to Optus Sport.

You cannot sign up in-store for this offer. Please be aware that a credit check may apply when taking up this plan.

Under the terms of the offer, Optus state they will payout the 60,000 points in a single allotment 7 days after you reach the 3 month threshold.

So, to get the points you will need to

    • Sign Up to the offer
    • Activate the SIM when it arrives
    • Keep the account active for at least 3 months. Even then, you will need to keep it active until the points are awarded.

Keep in mind, if you want the points, you cannot cancel or modify the plan until the points are awarded.

AT first glance this may look as though you would only need to pay for three months. However, it is likely that you will be charged for a fourth month before the points land in your account. As such. it is likely to cost a minimum of $396 to get those 60,000 Qantas Points.

    Is it worth it?

Whether the promotion is worth it or not depends on your valuation of Qantas Points. In many cases, you should be able to extract a value of 1.5c or more per point. This means those 60,000 points could be worth $900 or more.

It is also good value if you consider other ways of getting 60,000 points. You could buy them as top up points.  The downside of this path is that it would cost $1,647.

Another popular way of earning points is to use a Qantas Wine bundle. While this is a good way of quickly receiving points, you’d need to buy quite a bit of wine to get 60,000 Qantas Points.

    Thoughts

If you are looking for 60,000 Qantas Points it could be a good deal.

It is also worth noting that these points count towards Points Club or Points Club Plus.
