Platinum One members received a pleasant surprise this morning. Included in an email newsletter, was news of a new perk. They were to receive two passes to the First Lounges.
Members are able to use these passes either themselves, or they can give them away to friends of family. While Platinum One members can access any of the lounges, they do have the normal guest limits. By using a pass, they can get additional guest into the lounge.
As an althernative, they can choose to give the passes away to family or friends. As they are electronic, they can only be given to another Qantas Frequent Flyer member.
A new Perk
Under the new perk, Platinum One members will receive the electronic certificates at the start of each membership year. To kick start the new perk, all Platinum One members will be receiving them over the coming days. The electronic certificates will be made available in the members accounts online.
The passes themselves can be used to gain entry into one of the Qantas Club, Qantas International Business or Qantas First lounges. Given the small number of First lounges around, it is good that they are also valid for other lounges. It is curious that the rules do not allow the passes to be used for the Domestic Business lounges.
The certificate can only be used for Qantas marketed and operated flights. To use the certificate, the holder must log into their account and assign it to the particular flight they will be travelling on. Upon linking the certificate to a flight, an email is generated that will need to be presented at the lounge.
