Qantas has made an update to the points that count towards Points Club. Earlier this week, Qantas began counting points transferred from Qantas Business Rewards into your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.
With the change, up to 20,000 points transferred from Qantas Business Rewards can count toward your annual tally.
Points Club Earning
Earning in Points Club is calculated by the number of points that you earn in your membership year. Qantas keeps tally on the number of points you earn on the ground, from flying or transferring from Qantas Business Rewards.
Previously, transfers from Qantas Business Rewards were excluded altogether from your Points Club tally. However, this all changes, and you can now count up to 20,000 in points transferred from Qantas Business Rewards.
In implementing this change, Qantas has introduced a third category of points in Points Club. Until now, there have basically been two categories that count. These were the points you earned “on the ground” and the points you earned from flying. There was, however, a range of points that didn’t count towards the points club.
Points Club was designed to reward those who earn a lot of points but don’t fly much. As such, the main way to become a Points Club member was based on earning on the ground. That is the points that you earn other than through flying. The points that counted were those that came from sources such as
- Credit Cards
- Transfers from BP Rewards
- Transfers from Woolworths Rewards
- Qantas Wine
- Qantas Shopping
- and many other partners
The second category was flying. However, Qantas will only count a maximum of 20,000 points from flying to your Points Club tally.
There are, however, a range of points that do not count towards the points club. These include points awarded as a loyalty bonus, or transfers from other family members.
Counting the Points
Qantas has updated its displays to include transfers from Qantas Business Rewards in the totals.
