Qantas gears up to fly to New York – Special PJs and menus

    MarkBy MarkJune 1, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

Qantas is gearing up to launch flights to New York for the first time since 2020. This follows the delivery of its latest 787, which gives it the capacity to return to New York.

From 14 June, Qantas will be operating a service from Sydney to New York, with a stopover in Auckland. This will start off operating three times a week, before stepping up to four per week from October.

As part of the celebration of the new flight, Qantas has announced some special customer initiatives. This includes special edition pyjamas and a special menu for this in Business.

Special Edition PJs and Amenity Kit

Business customers flying to New York will be offered a special sleeper suit. The Rebecca Vallance designed navy blue pyjamas features a monogram of the Qantas Kangaroo and Rebecca Vallance logo. The design will also include references to the flight numbers (QF3 and QF4and a New York heart.

Business customers will also receive a special edition Rebecca Vallance amenity kit. The kit replaces the Koskela kit being rolled out elsewhere on the network.

New York inspired Neil Perry menu items

To coincide with the launch, Neil Perry has created a range of New York inspired dishes to be added to the inflight menu.

“New York is one of the culinary capitals of the world, from its much-loved street food to its internationally revered fine dining Michelin starred restaurants. We are using some amazing Australian produce to put our own spin on some of New York’s most famous food experiences,” said Mr. Perry.

If you have managed to get a seat in Business, these are some of the items you might see on the menu:

    • New York style spaghetti and meatballs
    • Classic Reuben sandwich
    • NY bagel with lox, cream cheese, capers and lemon
    • General Tso chicken with smashed cucumber salad, steamed rice and broccolini
    • Classic beef hot dog with sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard
    • Seared beef fillet with creamed spinach and baked potato with sour cream and chives
    • Pecan pie with crème fraiche
    • New York style baked cheesecake with blueberry compote
