How the promotion works
As with many promotions, the first step is to register for the promotion. This registration will need to be done by 31 October 2025.
Once that is done, you will earn a set number of status credits when you earn 1,000 points in one of eight categories. Depending on the category, you will receive either 10 or 20 Status Credits after completing the category.
The categories represent a wide range of point earning activities across Qantas Frequent Flyer program. For example, you could earn 20 Status Credits if you earn 1,000 Qantas Points on your Qantas Points earning credit card.
If you manage to complete all eight categories, then you will earn the full 110 Status Credits.

Status Credits
Status Credits are the key to unlocking status in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. The more status credits you earn, the higher your status can be. They allow you to move from Bronze, to Silver, Gold, Platinum and finally to Platinum One. Any Status Credits you earn from this promotion could help to move you along.
These Status Credits will also count toward your lifetime totals. While 110 Status Credits might not sound like a lot, they all help move you up the status ladder.
Why are Qantas Doing this?
This is an unusual move from Qantas, which begs the question as the why they are doing this. Certainly, even Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance recognises its unusual.
It’s the first time members have been able to earn Status Credits on the ground at this scale.
While flying will always be at the core of the program, this offer is about expanding the ways we recognise our members both in the air and on the ground
Whether members are using their points-earning credit card, shopping with favourite retailers or booking a hotel stay, this offer now makes those everyday activities even more rewarding.
Members are already earning two-thirds of their Qantas Points on the ground, and we expect this will be particularly appealing to our ‘frequent buyers’ who might not fly as often but are very engaged with the program and our hundreds of partners.
Final Words
To be honest, this is not a promotion I saw coming. As mentioned earlier, it is unusual these days for Qantas to offer Status Credits on non flying activity. While we saw a bit of it during the pandemic, we generally don’t see it. The main exception would be the 50 Status Credits on offer through the Green Tier, but that’s about it.
