    Qantas to resume Sydney-Beijing Services

    MarkBy MarkOctober 13, 20161 Comment1 Min Read

Qantas has announced that it will resume Sydney-Beijing nonstop flights from late January 2017. The new service marks a return to the Chinese capital, following the withdrawal from the route in 2009. Beijing becomes Qantas’ third destination in Greater China, including its existing daily return services to Shanghai and 28 return services a week to Hong Kong.

    Schedule

The new service will commence on January 25, 2017. Qantas plan to operate the new daily flight with its Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The following table shows the planned schedule for the service.

City Pair Flight No Timings Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun
    SYD-PEK QF107 13:50/22:40 * * * * * * *
    PEK-SYD QF108 00:15/14:55 * * * * *
    PEK-SYD QF108 00:20/14:55 * *

    Expanded Codeshare

In addition to the new service, Qantas announced and expansion of the joint venture partnership with China Eastern. This will see three international codeshare routes between Australia and China being added: Sydney-Hangzhou, Sydney-Kunming and Brisbane-Shanghai. In return, China Eastern will codeshare on Qantas’ new Beijing service.

joyce fails to mention that the planes flying SYD-PEK are unrefurbished ones, with the prehistoric rockwell inflight entertainment, and the angled skybed version 1 seats. Booo and 1 star for Qantas – anywhere else this would be called out as “dodgy” – the QF 330s were announced with much fanfare back in 2014 that they would be upgrading their planes but they forgot to mention that it wouldn’t be all of them.
