Sydney to get a new Qantas International Business Lounge

    MarkBy MarkNovember 8, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Some may say ‘about time’, but the upgrade to the Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge is about to get underway. The next phase of the construction begins 8 December, following the recent exterior extension works. Completion of this phase is due in 2027, in time for the launch of the Project Sunrise flights.

As with other lounges around the Qantas network, the teams at Caon Design Office and Akin Atelier have been engaged for the design. As is common with their recent lounge designs, the designers are drawing inspiration from the local area. In this case, the inspirations will come from Sydney’s stunning natural landscape, including the Blue Mountains and Bondi.

One interesting new feature of the lounge will be an outdoor terrace. This 150 square metre outdoor terrace will give passengers the opportunity to enjoy fresh air and natural light before boarding.

In other areas, there will be flexible zones tailored to different traveller needs. For example, there will be shared spaces and quiet working zones. Qantas are also promising enhanced connectivity with USB-C power stations and wireless charging to over 80 per cent of seats.

Firstly, there is a new temporary Qantas International Business Lounge in Terminal 1. In addition, in some cases, passengers will be able to access the Plaza Premium Lounge.

    Final Words

It was a bit of a coincidence that I past through Sydney International last week. While the Business Lounge was open, it was quite apparent that there had been work going on.

Still, I think it needs it. This upgrade has been a long time coming, but it looks like it’s finally here. It will be good to see the
