American Express will rebrand the American Express lounges in Sydney and Melbourne as Centurion Lounges.
The new branding will come into effect from 1 December. As part of this update, the lounges will be closing from 21 November. During this time, they will be getting a bit of a makeover to apply the changed branding.
While the lounges are closed for 10 days, eligible members will be able to access the Plaza Premium lounges instead. Access to the Plaza Premium lounges will be available to all members currently able to access the Amex lounges.
Eligibility
Following the rebranding, American Express says there will be no changes to the eligibility criteria to access the lounge. Access to the American Express lounges is available to a wide range of cardholders. Members holding one of the following American Express cards have access to the lounge:
- Centurion Card
- Platinum Card
- Platinum Business Card
- Corporate Platinum Card
- Qantas Corporate Platinum Card
- Explorer® Credit Card
- Business ExplorerTM Credit Card
- Platinum Reserve Credit Card
- David Jones American Express® Platinum Card
- Qantas American Express Ultimate Card
- Velocity Platinum Card
- Airpoints Platinum Card
- Elevate Premium Credit Card
The current access policies will remain in place. In the case of the Centurion, Platinum, Business Platinum and Corporate Platinum cards, unlimited complimentary access is provided. All other cards are eligible for 2 complimentary visits per year.
