Qatar Airways have announced that it will begin flying to Sydney from March 1st 2016. The daily flight is to be operated with a Boeng 777-300ER aircraft, which featured 42 business class seats, whcih can operate as full lay flat beds. The announcement to fly to Sydney, comes after a recent government announcement that increased the number of flights that could operate between Australia and Qatar. OneWorld member, Cathay Pacific has announced wide ranging changes to its Marco Polo Club frequent flyer scheme. AccorHotels and Qantas Frequent Flyer have announced that they has made a major improvement in their long-standing partnership. While members of the Qantas program have long been able to convert points to Qantas Frequent Flyer, there have been some limitations in the process. Firstly, it could only be done manually, and required a minimum of 4,000 Le Club AccorHotels Points. Qantas is continuing its rollout of seasonal services over summer, with the announcement that it will be operating such a service to Bali over the summer months. The new Boeing 737 service will operate between Sydney and Denpasar four times a week from 4 December 2015 to 29 January 2016. In all a tital of 33 return trips will be made. The service is said to be in resposne to demand to Bali, and will supplement the 787 services to Bali operated by Low Cost offshoot Jetstar. The seasonal service will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays over the period from 30 June to 13 August 2016. Again, the service is to be operated by Boeing 747 aircraft. Qantas has announced that it will be adding more services between Hobart and the east coast cities of Melbourne and Sydney next year. The new filgts are scheduled to benefit business business travellers and customers connecting to Qantas international routes. Qantas has annound a range of changes to the fees that it charges for advance seat selection on its international services.The changes, to come into effect on 23 September, affect the economy fares that will require a fee to be paid, and also the level of fee that will be levied. The Commonwealth Bank has become the latest financial institution to clamp down of the earning of frequent flyer points when using your credit card to pay the Australian Taxation Office (ATO),. The lastest round affects CBA’s line of personal credit cards, which include the standard, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Awards cards. As from November 2, 2015 these cards will earn zero points on payments made to the ATO. Jetstar and Melbourne Airport have advised that from November 10, 2015, Jetstar will be moving its domestic operations to Melbourne Terminal 4. At present, Jetstar largely operates out of Terminal 1, which it shares with big brother Qantas. Note that this change only affects domestic operations.
