Earn up to 50 Status Credits with Woolworths Rewards

    MarkBy MarkMay 6, 2020No Comments3 Mins Read

As a result of current travel restrictions, earning Status Credits on Qantas has become something of a challenge. To help out, Qantas is offering Woolworths Rewards members the chance to earn up to 50 Status Credits between now and the end of June.

    Offer Details

It’s a fairly straightforward offer. Basically, each time you convert 2,000 Woolworths Rewards Points to Qantas Points, you will earn 10 Status Credits. You can do this a maximum of 5 times, giving you the chance to bring in 50 Status Credits.

In order to take part in the offer, you need to set your Woolworths Rewards options to earn Qantas Points. This makes the conversion happen automatically. Once you earn 2,000 Woolworths Rewards Points, and within a day or so they will transfer across as 1,000 Qantas Points.

Qantas has been emailing members details of the promotion over the last day. Nothing in the email indicates that it is targetted, although perhaps it may be. Aside from that, there is no registration required.

    Earning Points

As a quick reminder, you earn 1 point for every $1 spent at Woolworths supermarkets, BWS, participating Caltex and Caltex Woolworths outlets and Big W. This is not just in-store, online purchases are included.

At the standard rate, that does mean a spend of $2,000 for each of those 10 Status Credits. If you are lucky, you may get a bonus offer that allows you to earn those 2,000 points for less money.

Just remember to scan your Woolworths Rewards cards when you shop, to make sure you collect the points.

    Thoughts

In the past, earning Status Credits on Qantas nearly always required you to fly. But with their fleet grounded, they have been looking for other ways to award their members.

In a way, it is similar to the offer of 10 Status Credits available through BP, although in that case it is linked to a launch promotion (and buying fuel).

You may also need to consider whether you actually need any Status Credits. Qantas has extended Status for most members by 12 months. Depending on your membership year, Status Credits from this promotion may or may not help you retain status.

Having said that, they will still count toward your lifetime tally, and they may come in useful in attaining higher status.

In addition, if you are a member of Points Club, you are able to roll over 100 Status Credits each year. As such, these Status Credits could give you a head start on your next year’s race for status.

There are certainly a few factors to consider whether to chase these credits. Of course, if you were going to spend at Woolworths anyway, just take the status credits and be happy.
