    KrisFlyer moving to digital cards

    MarkBy MarkApril 28, 2017No Comments2 Mins Read

Singapore Airlines will stop issuing plastic membership cards to its base members,, in favour of digital cards. The change coming into effect from June 1 will require members to use digital KrisFlyer membership cards. These cards will be available on Apple and  Android smartphones.

Sinagpore Airlines say that the last of the physical cards will be sent out by June 1. After that time, members will need to access the card through their smartphone, or print a copy from the Krisflyer website.

Elite members of the program are not immediately affected by this change. Members aulifying for the Silver, Gold, or PPS Elite levels will continue to receive their cards in the mail.

    The Digital Cards

In order to access your digital card, you will need the SingaporeAir Mobile App installed on your smartphone. The App is available for both Apple and Android smartphones.  Windows phone users are out of luck, as there is not a version of the App available for their phone.

Once logged into the App, it is a simple matter of clicking on the Membership Card option. This will bring up a QR code representing your card. In the case of the Apple version, members are able to download the card into their Apple wallet.

By scanning the QR code at a compatible device, Singapore Airlines staff will be able to determine your name, KrisFlyer number and tier status.

    Paper version

If you’re worried that this may leave you stranded if you have technical issues, such as a flat battery, then fret not. Singapore Airlines will allow you to print a version of your card from their website. This is available under the Profile tab, when logged into your account.
