Qantas to (finally) revamp the Auckland Lounge

    MarkBy MarkMarch 24, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Qantas will be closing the Auckland Business and First lounges as it prepares to revamp the lounges. First announced way back in 2018, construction of the new lounge will commence in 23 April 2025.

In a note on its website, Qantas writes:

From 23 April 2025, we’ll begin construction on our new Auckland lounge, which will feature increased capacity and a dining experience showcasing the best of New Zealand food and wine. During construction, the lounge will be temporarily closed. If you’re travelling from Auckland over the construction period, we’ll keep you up to date on alternate arrangements closer to your flight.

During the closure, eligible Qantas passengers will be able to use the Emirates lounge. This lounge is across from the existing Qantas Lounge.

What to expect in the new lounge

Under the revamp, the current Business and First Lounges in Auckland will become a single Qantas International Lounge. Qantas has not yet set a specific date for the reopening. However, it expects the lounge to be open in ‘early 2026’.
Qantas has previously said that the single Qantas International Lounge would include a footprint expansion into an adjacent space. This would allow it to increase total capacity by around 40 percent from 244 seats to 340 seats. In addition, Qantas are promising a dining experience that showcases the best of New Zealand food and wine.

    Other Lounges

It is not the only lounge that will be receiving love from Qantas. Upcoming developments in other lounges include:

    • Hobart: The lounge will be relocated to a temporary space on 5 April. The temporary lounge near Gate 5, adjacent to the current Qantas Club.
    • Sydney International: Planning is continuing on the redevelopment of the Sydney International Business Lounge.
    • Regional Lounges: A refresh of the Karratha, Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, Mackay, Emerald, Gladstone and Rockhampton lounges is planned. The refresh will see new furniture and technology improvements.
