Virgin Australia has launched a new promotion, and you get to choose between Double Velocity points or Double Status Credits on new bookings. You can only choose one of the options, and once selected you can’t change it.
Which of the two options to choose will depend on your own circumstances. If you need a leg up in getting to Gold or Platinum status, then Double Status credits would be a good choice.
As always with these offer, you have a short booking window, limited booking window, but if everything aligns, you could enjoy the perks of Gold and Platinum status much faster.
Whatever your choice, you will need to make and register your choice by 13 June. Once you have done that, you will need to book and take an eligible flight.
Double points or status credits are available across the entire Virgin Australia operated network. That includes the domestic, trans-Tasman and short-haul international networks. Keep in mind that codeshare flights are not eligible for the offer.

Status On Virgin Australia
Status Credits are the primary measure that is used by Velocity to determine your status. The way Velocity calculate Status Credits changed in April 2025. Since that change, you earn 1 Status Credit per A$12 spent on most Virgin Australia fares. The one exception is for Lite fares which earn 1 Status Credit per A$24 spent.
As such, if you choose Double Status Credits, you will earn 1 Status Credit per $6 (on fares other than Lite fares)
The basic requirements to rise through the levels you need to earn
- 250 status credits to reach the silver tier (200 to renew it in subsequent years),
- 500 to reach gold (400 to renew) and
- 1,000 to reach platinum (800 to renew)
Of course, with a double status credits offer, this can be done with half the flying that you normally need to do.
If you have been chasing status, a double status credits offer is a great way to get some status credits under your belt.
