Velocity members can put themselves on the status fast‑track with a new offer from Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer. Under the offer, you can earn up to 125 bonus Status Credits on eligible flights taken between 12 January and 31 March 2026. And yes, it is retrospective to flights taken from 12 January. So, if you have booked and flown since 12 January, this offer can help you out.
This was originally an offer aimed at Virgin Business Flyer customers, but the airline has now widened the net. With the expanded offer, every Velocity member has a quicker path to unlocking Gold or Platinum benefits. It can also help out with extending your status if you’ve got a review coming up.

Status On Virgin Australia
Status Credits are the primary measure that is used by Velocity to determine your status. The way Velocity calculate Status Credits changed in April 2025. Since that change, you earn 1 Status Credit per A$12 spent on most Virgin Australia fares. The one exception is for Lite fares which earn 1 Status Credit per A$24 spent.
As such, if you choose Double Status Credits, you will earn 1 Status Credit per $6 (on fares other than Lite fares)
The basic requirements to rise through the levels you need to earn
- 250 status credits to reach the silver tier (200 to renew it in subsequent years),
- 500 to reach gold (400 to renew) and
- 1,000 to reach platinum (800 to renew)
Final Words
I’m not sure that Velocity have extended a Business Flyer offer to all members before. It is also unusually generous in the retrospective nature of the offer.
