Virgin Australia has rolled out a flash sale on its Economy X seating option. They are offering upgrades from just $8 per person, per sector across its domestic network. This represents a 30% discount off the usual starting upgrade price, making extra legroom, priority perks, and added comfort more accessible for travellers.
Upgrades can be added to Virgin Australia domestic flight bookings (subject to availability) until 11:59pm AEST Thursday 9 July 2026.

During the sale, Economy X will be available at some pretty keen prices.
The sale prices will be available for new and existing bookings between 27 and 180 days prior to departure.

Economy X
The main claim to fame for Economy X is that it provided extra legroom. However, it does provide some additional benefits:
- Additional carry-on baggage (over standard Economy). Economy X passengers can take up to 14 kilograms of carry-on baggage.
- Dedicated overhead locker space for Economy X, adjacent to the Economy X seat
- Priority check-in
- Priority airport security screening (where available)
- Priority boarding
