Earn Double Velocity Points on Virgin Australia flights

Velocity continues its run of promotions with a new double points promotion. As a result, you will be able to earn at least 10 Velocity Points per dollar spent on your airfare.

The promotion is valid for bookings made between now and 17 February 2021, for travel by 5 January 2022. As usual with a Velocity promotion, you will need to register first.

Promotion Details

  • Offer; Double Points on all eligible Virgin Australia domestic flights
  • Booking Period: Book by 17 February 2021
  • Travel Period: Travel by 5 January 2022
  • Registration: You will need to register for the promotion prior to making your booking

Things to note

As with all promotions, there is a bit of fine print to take note of.

Firstly, you need to activate the offer, so make sure you do that. You should be able to find the offer in the Velocity App. If you do not use the App, you can find the offer within the member dashboard after you have logged into the Velocity website. If all else fails, you can use the link above.

Secondly, you need to book an eligible flight. This can be any domestic flight marketed and operated by Virgin Australia. This means that you will not earn bonus points on a codeshare service. Another exclusion is when taking a domestic flight as part of an international journey. While these are fairly standard exclusions, they probably aren’t going to be too much of an issue at the moment.

As far as points earning goes, the double points apply to the base earning that you would normally earn. That is, it doubles the 5 points per dollar that make up the base earn. Any other bonus, such as a status bonus, is not double.

All that said, these promotions cost nothing extra, so if you can book next year’s flights in the next week, it is worthwhile signing up for the extra points.
