Virgin Australia joins forces with ‘Experience Oz’

Virgin Australia has announced a mutli-year partnership with ‘Experience Oz’, a travel experience brand owned by Big Red.

Under the new partnership:

  • more than 4,000 Experience Oz travel experiences will be available to book at
  • Velocity Frequent Flyer’s will be able to earn (3 Points per $1 spent) and redeem Velocity Points on the experiences

Velocity is offering its members two introductory offers as part of the launch of the new partnership. Firstly, triple points are up for grabs. As a result, Velocity members will be able to earn 9 Velocity Points per dollar spent.

On top of that, bookings made in the first two weeks will go into a draw to win two Virgin Australia domestic return flights and a $1,000 Experience Oz voucher.

Both of the introductory offers are available until 27 November 2023.

Experience Oz

Experience Oz is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest tour and attractions marketplaces. Covering upwards of 50 regions, and supporting over 4,000 experience operators, they offer cruises, tours, activities and more.

The new partnership aims to boost both domestic tourism and the experience economy by providing ease and additional benefits when booking travel and packaged experiences at

Velocity and Experience Oz

Velocity members will be able to earn a standard 3 Velocity Points per dollar spent. We would expect that there will be promotions from time to time offering additional points to members.

There is also an ability to use Velocity Points towards the experiences. Under this ‘Points + Pay offer’, you are able to redeem points at the rate of 0.6 cents per Velocity Point. While this is par for the course for these types of redemptions, you can usually get better value with flights or upgrades.

Final Words

It’s always good to see Velocity sign up new partners. During the promotion period, the 9 points per dollar makes it worthwhile booking tours through Virgin Australia, expecially if there is no increase in pricing.
