Virgin Australia has rolled out an update to its Economy fares. Under the revamp of fares, the fares are getting new names, and there are some adjustments to the features of the fares. At the bottom end of the fares, there is a new lead in fare – Economy Lite. The KrisFlyer program has launched a new family-friendly program, aptly named KrisFlyer for Families.  Under the new benefit, KrisFlyer members will be able to transfer miles to a parent’s account. KrisFlyer for families is a type of  ‘family pooling’, allowing parents to access any points earned by their children. However, it does not come free, with KrisFlyer charging US$5 or 500 KrisFlyer miles for each 5,000 KrisFlyer miles transferred. Qantas has announced a fourth round of frequent flyer status extensions. This time it is members with a membership year ending between January 2022 and June 2022. The offer is basically the same one as made in November last year, it is just rolling out to a new set of members. In essence, members just need to book one eligible flight before their membership anniversary to keep their status. Velocity is allowing Platinum members to use their Platinum UpgradeMe certificates on Elevate fares. The offer runs through until 31 October 2021. Elevate sits in the middle of the price range in the Virgin Australia fare families. Cheaper than Freedom Fares, but more expensive than Getaway fares. Over the first week of August, Qantas will be running a Points Auction. The auctions will offer Qantas Frequent Flyers the ability to use their points to bid on unique experiences.
